Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager Location: Phoenix, AZ Overview AmSafe is seeking a proactive and hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to join our operations team in Phoenix, Arizona. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and plays a critical part in optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, and delivering high‑quality products while driving our automation journey. Scope and Responsibilities Refine and enhance production processes applying continuous improvement principles aligned with business objectives. Collaborate with Design Engineering to implement design‑for‑manufacturing improvements supporting cost, quality, and delivery goals. Lead root cause investigations using statistical tools (DOE, SPC, A3) to eliminate recurring issues. Develop low‑cost mistake‑proofing solutions for process failure modes to drive product and process reliability. Identify and implement productivity improvements and cost‑saving initiatives reflecting ownership and accountability. Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions supporting efficient production and new product launches. Evaluate, justify, and manage capital equipment projects from concept design through installation and validation. Author and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and control plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Partner with business unit teams to identify automation and modernization opportunities for legacy processes. Champion open communication and cross‑functional teamwork ensuring challenges and ideas are surfaced and addressed promptly. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotic, or Mechatronic Engineering. Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or related role. Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Proficiency with SolidWorks for modeling and creating technical drawings. Experience applying quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, control plans, and root cause analysis. Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, actuators, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems preferred. Experience with ERP systems (QAD experience a plus). Spanish‑speaking skills are a plus but not required. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
