As part of the Engineering team, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality. This position covers process engineering, industrial engineering, production standard costs, tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, waste reduction, supporting new product evaluation, onboarding, and troubleshooting. The Manufacturing Engineer ensures effective quality system implementation to prevent defects and supports continuous improvement using lean manufacturing concepts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes for new and existing products to optimize cost and quality.
Design work centers and product/process flow, considering ergonomic, lean manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, and changeover aspects.
Assess new equipment models and develop processing plans and standard work for production.
Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, including strategy development, employee training, and kaizen events.
Reduce scrap, rework, material and labor variances, and evaluate safety and ergonomic factors.
Collaborate with staff to meet performance goals and maintain support functions.
Coordinate with the Plant Manager to ensure policy and objective conformance.
Plan and monitor capital projects related to tooling, equipment, and automation.
Maintain production layouts, routings, work standards, and work instructions.
Support mechanical and electrical repairs and develop maintenance instructions.
Create sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions.
Engage with customers to identify process and product improvements and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications, Skills/Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent, with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience.
Experience implementing lean manufacturing concepts.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and training skills.
Excellent persuasion, facilitation, and change management skills.
Proven collaboration and project management abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to interpret technical and regulatory documents.
Proficient in report writing and presenting information effectively.
Pay Range: $64,000.00 - $96,000.00
