Job Title : Manager Manufacturing Engineering Reporting To : Operations Manager Work Schedule : Onsite – Phoenix, AZ Responsibilities Evaluate and develop new and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering and production process development. Oversees and coordinates a team of technicians to ensure efficient execution of production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols. Determine manufacturing procedures, operation sequencing, writing of detailed operations sheets and work instructions. Hands on approach in supporting continuous improvement efforts for existing production processes. Prepare, monitor, and update engineered or estimated time standards for set up and run hours, man to machine ratios and economic run quantities for each component’s processes throughout the entire parts routing. Provide detailed cost estimates for new business capture and process improvement efforts. Leadership in new manufacturing capital equipment evaluation, justification, purchasing and implementation. Daily interaction with a variety of disciplines to solve process related problems and mentor others. Project leadership opportunities assigned by the Group Lead and/or Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Support production automated manufacturing cells, driving process stability to achieve reduced attended labor and human factor variation. Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawings and suggesting changes for producibility. Provide accurate and usable N/C programming tapes and assist machine operators with program prove-out. Originates and/or conducts studies directed toward more efficient manufacturing of parts, including recommendations for changes in equipment, processes, methods, materials and designs. Follow up jobs during initial stage of manufacturing to ensure processing and implement revisions to tooling and processing as necessary. Prepare rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts and follow through with corrective action to reduce recurrence. Establish tooling, gaging and fixture concepts; review and approve tool and fixture designs; estimate hours required to design and fabricate tools and fixtures. May work with Moog vendors to coordinate operation sheets containing outside and inside operations. Aid in producing N/C programs and assist with cost estimating on new proposals. May technically direct, guide or train Associate Manufacturing Engineers. Ensure safety principles are practiced by employees and management. Travel may be required up to 10%. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 9 years of equivalent experience. At least 5 years of engineering or operations experience in a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years of direct management experience. Experience in process engineering from raw material to finished goods. Strong communication and influencing skills in written, verbal, and presentation form. Preferred Qualifications Black Belt and/or Six Sigma Certified, or Lean Certification. Hands on experience setting up and operating SMT machines. Salary Phoenix, AZ $140,000.00–$160,000.00 Annually Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance.
