Forensics Are you a strong leader who enjoys providing expertise and recommendations to clients? Lerch Bates is seeking a Consultant who will identify, plan, direct, and oversee all aspects of rehabilitation projects. This role will primarily oversee multiple projects, provide solutions and recommendations to clients, and offer technical review, mentorship, and training to specialists, engineers, and other team members. The consultant acts as a technical liaison on matters pertaining to the field of practice. What You’ll Do

Conduct on-site investigations and field reviews of existing buildings. Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify risk areas (e.g., water penetration, air leakage, condensation). Focus on critical aspects of structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades, including masonry. Prepare reports and presentations of assessment findings that document existing conditions and provide recommended repairs. Conduct peer reviews of findings for direct reports and peers. Participate in and/or lead meetings with owners, developers, architects, adjustors, and other consultants. Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with project intent and applicable building science and engineering principles. Conduct drawing, detail, and specification reviews. Provide on-site quality assurance observations to review construction for conformance to contract documents, standards, and manufacturer requirements. Prepare site visit reports and supervise technicians and specialists, reviewing site visit reports for consistency and technical accuracy. Assume managerial responsibility for project scope, schedule, design, budget, quality, staff, and execution. Act as a trusted advisor to clients; develop client relationships and explore opportunities to enhance service with existing clients. Track projects with standard procedures for change management and ensure alignment with plan objectives. Lead and participate in 90-day and annual reviews for direct reports as applicable. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, Construction) or Architecture. P.E. or AIA licensure or other relevant licensure. Minimum 5 years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry. Strong understanding of residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction. Knowledge of building enclosure design principles. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to clients, contractors, and stakeholders via written and verbal reports and presentations. Technical writing and communication skills. Proficiency in design/modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, etc.) preferred. Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
