Managing Director, Active Equities - Global Consumer Staples CPP Investments is hiring for the role of Managing Director, Active Equities - Global Consumer Staples. The Active Equities mandate is to deliver alpha in the global public equity markets. The team leverages CPP Investments' competitive advantages to exploit alpha opportunities through proprietary fundamental research and seeks high-conviction, single-company investments assembled into concentrated long/short, market-neutral portfolios.

Responsibilities

Build and Manage the Active Equities Global Consumer Staples Portfolio; accountable for the financial performance of the portfolio.

Execute the fundamental research process, including idea generation, identifying key investment debates, developing and executing a research plan, and making security selection and position sizing decisions.

Manage the Global Consumer Staples portfolio in accordance with the Active Equities Portfolio Construction Guidelines.

Contribute high-conviction ideas to the Global Best Ideas Portfolio.

Oversee the recruitment, management, and development of junior fundamental researchers.

Lead the sector team with a focus on talent development; drive accountability for investment decisions; foster a culture of inclusion; collaborate with other internal groups at CPP Investments.

Represent CPP Investments externally and communicate Active Equities strategies and objectives; interact with boards, management teams, analysts, and industry experts; participate in department management and investment committee meetings; provide timely information on key activities; assist in firm-wide training and recruitment.

Qualifications

A strong investment track record with experience in Consumer Staples globally.

Ability to interact with C-suite executives and in boardroom situations.

Experience working on a global, matrix team; experience with long-term investments, concentrated portfolios, and fundamental analysis of public equities.

Strong financial statement analysis skills; solid foundation in finance, math/statistics, and economics; ability to link company/industry specifics to valuation.

Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal and relationship management; ability to present effectively.

Demonstrated teambuilding and collaboration skills; self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable; ability to travel extensively; low ego with collaborative, high-performance orientation.

Ability to act as an enterprise standard bearer of CPP Investments’ guiding principles of Integrity, Partnership, and High Performance.

Additional Information The salary range for this position is USD 275,000 – 460,000. The base salary range is a reasonable expectation for the posted role and is part of a competitive total rewards package, which includes benefits, a performance-based incentive plan, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Actual salaries may vary.
