City of San Jose – Assistant to the City Manager (Public Art Program Director) – Office of Cultural Affairs. The role leads the Public Art Program and reports to the Director of Cultural Affairs/Deputy Director of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs. Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Public Art Program, including developing a strategic vision, planning, managing and evaluating the program and its projects, and guiding project realization from inception to installation and conservation. Steward the program budget and collaborate with interdepartmental leadership and the community to realize the vision for public art in San José. Supervise staff (two Senior Arts Coordinators, one Art Coordinator) and perform as an individual contributor as needed. Oversee interagency contracts for public art services and other creative placemaking efforts; maintain citywide awareness of public art practices and policies. Coordinate with interagency partners (e.g., County of Santa Clara, Valley Transportation Authority) on project management services as applicable. Develop public policy, planning, and performance evaluation related to public art; ensure alignment with 1% for art ordinance and city goals. Engage with community stakeholders to realize the city’s vision for public art and uphold high standards of professionalism and customer service. Qualifications

Detail-oriented with initiative, flexibility, and creativity in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Professionalism, excellent customer service, strong work ethic.
