The Franciscan Renewal Center (FRC), a nonprofit Catholic retreat center and home to Our Lady of the Angels Church, located on 25 acres in Paradise Valley. Founded in 1951 by the Order of Friars Minor, we are committed to our mission of “renewing lives through spiritual growth, healing, transformation, and service to others.” The FRC staff and volunteers are passionate about our shared work that ultimately provides a peaceful and welcoming experience for all who come here. We serve our mission by providing: Retreats, meeting and conference space for faithbased and nonprofit organizations Joyful worship with Franciscan friars at Our Lady of the Angels Church, and additional support to our dynamic faith community with faith formation and spiritual education Service and outreach programs for the poor and vulnerable Counseling, therapy, and support groups We are seeking an Accounting and Finance Director who brings strong nonprofit finance expertise, emotional intelligence, collaboration skills, and a commitment to our mission and values. This hands-on leadership role serves as our primary finance professional, responsible for all financial operations, strategy, and reporting. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and has strong working relationships with the Board, Finance Committee, the Franciscan Ministries Board, department leaders and vendors. Responsibilities
Lead and/or execute all accounting operations, including AP, AR, cash receipts, GL, reconciliations, payroll review and audits, and financial reporting. Prepare monthly/annual statements, budgets, forecasts, and key performance dashboards. Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend adjustments. Manage cash flow, investments, and capital budgets in partnership with the Finance Committee. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, tax regulations, and donor requirements. Serve as liaison to the Board, Finance Committee, auditors, and external vendors. Fiduciary and financial oversight of 403b Retirement Savings Plan, prepare plan reporting, audits and filings, including annual 1099R and census. Partner with leadership to strengthen systems, processes, and technology for greater efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA or CMA preferred. 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in leadership. Strong nonprofit accounting knowledge, including revenue recognition and donor restrictions. Expertise in month-end close, financial analysis, audits, and internal controls. Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and strong communication abilities. Ability to work onsite full time and lead with integrity in line with Franciscan values.
