Provides strategic leadership over all human capital functions, including HR and DEI, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Culture Development: Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, oversee all facets of human resources and DEIAB departments for the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks; define, champion, and strengthen the organization’s culture, values, and behaviors to align with mission and strategic goals; develop and execute engagement strategies to enhance employee experience, motivation, and retention; oversee Culture Committee and Emerging Leaders programs for the family of parks. Human Resources Operations: Develop and administer HR policies and procedures ensuring legal compliance and alignment with strategic goals; manage staffing plans and recruitment/selection for full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions; oversee classifications, compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation programs; oversee employee communications and incentive programs. Labor Relations & Compliance: Advise management on policy, contract, and employment laws; plan and implement labor relations strategies and lead collective bargaining; conduct investigations and resolve HR matters; manage workers’ compensation and unemployment filings; act as Privacy Officer for HIPAA compliance; assume Guest Experience Director responsibilities as assigned. Training & Development: Design and oversee leadership development frameworks; identify training needs, deliver programs, and prepare confidential reports; facilitate diversity & inclusion efforts with senior leadership and guest engagement teams; promote sustainable practices in daily tasks. Education & Certification: B.S. in Labor and Human Resources or related field; advanced HR certification preferred (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) with ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. Experience & Expertise: 10+ years in HR leadership/labor relations or related experience; proven personnel management; collective bargaining experience; experience with insurance brokers to determine benefit programs; knowledge of current employment laws and policy writing. Communication & Leadership: Ability to conduct training sessions, board and external presentations; proven project management and people leadership; strong verbal and written communication; ability to build cooperative relationships across Columbus Zoo Family of Parks. Technical & Operational Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS; ability to plan, organize, and work with limited supervision; adherence to SOPs and safety protocols; commitment to excellent guest service. Other Requirements: Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; valid driver’s license and good driving record; drug-free workplace policy adherence; successful completion of criminal history background check annually. Qualifications

B.S. in Labor and Human Resources or related field; advanced HR certification preferred (SPHR, SHRM-SCP). Ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. 10+ years of HR leadership or labor relations experience; strong knowledge of employment laws; experience with collective bargaining.
