Overview
Senior, Product Manager supports Macy’s Product Management teams by building and defining digital products that enable seamless omnichannel shopping experiences for customers while empowering colleagues and vendor partners to operate efficiently. This role focuses on delivering solutions that delight customers, engage colleagues, and maximize key business KPIs. The Senior, Product Manager identifies critical user problems, evaluates their impact on strategic business outcomes, and defines a clear vision for leveraging technology to address these challenges and maximize return on investment. What You Will Do
Conduct customer research to build empathy, identify critical problems, and understand behaviors, expectations, and decision-making patterns. Interview business stakeholders to understand operational complexities and strategic objectives. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform prioritization and product direction. Assess the competitive landscape and recommend strategic positioning. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to anticipate shifts in customer expectations. Collaborate with technology partners to evaluate technical capabilities and constraints. Perform financial modeling to assess ROI and support business cases. Develop a strategic roadmap that outlines both short- and long-term product visions. Articulate and socialize the product vision with business and technology stakeholders. User-Centered Scope Definition & Prioritization
Define use cases, customer journey maps, and key hypotheses. Break down the product vision into an iterative release strategy to reduce risk, validate assumptions, and deliver value early and often. Align scope and priorities around desired outcomes rather than feature lists. Collaborate with UX to establish clear information architecture and content strategy. Identify KPIs and operational metrics for each phase of delivery. Stakeholder Management
Navigate complex stakeholder landscapes across brands, channels, divisions, and functions. Drive alignment among sponsors, business owners, and senior stakeholders. Facilitate interviews, working sessions, showcases, and readiness activities to ensure engagement, product training, and ownership transfer. Agile Product Delivery
Partner with Iteration Manager, Tech Lead, QA, and engineers to maximize delivery efficiency and value. Prioritize user stories in collaboration with UX, tech, QA, and SMEs. Continuously refine roadmap, release plans, and priorities based on agile insights and evolving needs. Product Hindsighting
Collaborate with analytics to develop testing strategies and validate hypotheses throughout the product lifecycle. Measure post-launch success using engagement metrics, KPIs, and operational data. Recommend next steps for product optimization, continued investment, or pivoting based on performance insights. Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, trends, and insights to make informed decisions and drive product strategy. Functional Expertise: Proficiency in Omni Channel retail pricing, competitive data analysis, product lifecycle management, inventory optimization, and pricing strategies. Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills and a curious nature to approach challenges with innovative solutions. Technical and Business Acumen: Understanding of both technical aspects and business implications to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Communication: Excellent communication skills to articulate and defend viewpoints to diverse audiences, as well as storytelling abilities to convey complex concepts in simple terms. Stakeholder Management: Capability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and drive alignment and engagement among diverse groups. Agility: Adaptability to respond to changing priorities and environments, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution. Influence: Ability to influence decisions and outcomes without relying solely on direct authority. Self-Driven: Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. MBA preferred. 5+ years of Product Management experience and 3+ years of retail experience. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
