Overview
Executive Underwriter, Middle Market Technology — responsible for underwriting middle market technology accounts focused on Property & Casualty and Technology Errors & Omissions (Tech E&O). This role combines autonomous underwriting authority with commercial development: managing a portfolio of brokers and clients, underwriting complex/mid-to-large risk technology accounts, pricing risk analytically, and shaping product and go-to-market strategy for the technology vertical. Responsibilities
Risk Selection: Reviews, rates, underwrites, evaluates, or assesses the business applying for insurance by qualifying accounts, identifying and assessing risks, determining premiums, policy terms and conditions, obtaining approvals, presenting proposals to agents/brokers, and negotiating deals. Agent/Broker Relationships: Maintains responsive service and builds strong relationships with Agents and Brokers to facilitate marketing of products; conducts site visits, in-person renewal meetings, and knowledge sharing about customers’ businesses; develops a long-term pipeline with Agents/Brokers. Portfolio Management: Manages a sizable and complex technology book by analyzing performance, identifying growth opportunities, and executing marketing plans to increase market share through broker outreach. Documenting the Deal: Documents files with clear rationale and decision-making through comprehensive account reviews, sign-offs, and referrals that comply with state regulations, letters of authority, and underwriting guidelines. Leadership: Guides, mentors, and coaches underwriters and analysts in technical and professional skills; shares expertise and provides updates to other underwriters. Continuous Improvement: Participates in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting improvements and using problem-solving tools to support the team. Qualifications
Degree in Business or equivalent typically required Minimum of 7 years underwriting experience; typically 10+ years of progressive underwriting or related business experience CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks within scope of responsibility Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly in writing and/or verbally for underwriting or training purposes Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical underwriting issues and implement necessary processes/workflows Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business About Us
