Reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing, Global Category Management, this position will lead responsible for best-practice strategic management of equipment and services spend (~$220M/year) to support our Materials Processing Facilities (MPF) and Circon Environmental Services requirements. The Category Manager's primary responsibility is to plan, direct, and monitor procurement activities to meet standards for cost, quality, timing, reliability, and sustainability within these Business Units. Lead Regional Procurement through the development and execution of necessary annual strategic spend, savings, service plans, supplier management and supply market development covering end-to-end fulfillment of this growing segment across existing and new operating sites. This position is hybrid; the candidate will be based within or near one of Reworld’s facilities, with travel expected up to 25%, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing. Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Execution Develop and implement multi-year sourcing strategies for waste transportation, disposal, and related environmental services. Optimize vendor networks to reduce cost-to-serve, improve route efficiency, and enhance landfill diversion and recycling outcomes. Ensure category strategies align with operational priorities, compliance requirements, and Reworld’s sustainability goals. Contract Management & Supplier Governance Lead contract negotiations for hauling, disposal, and transfer services, ensuring favorable commercial terms, SLAs, and risk allocation. Oversee supplier performance through KPIs and business reviews; drive corrective actions for underperformance. Support standardization of contract terms, rate structures, and escalation mechanisms across all regions. Operational & Financial Impact Partner with Operations to identify and implement cost-reduction and process-improvement opportunities. Monitor spend and supplier performance through analytics, dashboards, and financial tracking tools. Deliver annual savings, cost avoidance, and service-level improvements in line with enterprise targets. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Engineering, EHS, and Sustainability to ensure vendor practices meet environmental and safety standards. Partner with Finance to forecast and track savings and budget impacts. Support new facility startups, expansions, and M&A integrations through category planning and supplier onboarding. Market & Risk Management Stay current with waste and recycling market trends, regulatory changes, and disposal technologies. Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of service. Accountabilities
Develop global category strategies that deliver superior quality, cost, and delivery performance. Manage Annual Operating Plan and Long Range Strategic Plan for the selected Business Units, driving productivity ideation and implementation. Develop and maintain a category profile, strategy and execution plans with Change Management and compliance programs. This will include RFPs, bid clarification and normalization, coordination of bid evaluations and recommendation for award. Waste Disposal Optimization Lead the development and execution of category strategies to reduce waste disposal costs across all facilities while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational reliability. Analyze spend, contract terms, hauling volumes, and disposal fee structures to identify cost-reduction opportunities such as route optimization, landfill fee negotiations, consolidated supplier agreements, and waste stream diversion. Partner with Operations, EHS, and Finance to model cost scenarios for tipping fees, transportation surcharges, equipment rental, and disposal alternatives to drive total cost-of-ownership improvements. Negotiate pricing, service levels, and rebate programs with hauling, recycling, and landfill providers to maximize value while maintaining quality of service. Implement standardized metrics and dashboards to track site-level waste volumes, diversion rates, and cost trends, enabling data-driven decision-making. Develop and manage a continuous improvement pipeline that leverages best practices, competitive bidding, supplier innovation, and zero-waste initiatives to achieve measurable year-over-year savings. Ensure all waste disposal contracts align with corporate sustainability goals, reporting requirements, and state/federal regulatory standards. Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Engineering is required. MBA is preferred. Position Requirements
Experience: Over 10 years of progressive contracts and supply chain experience specializing in waste transportation and disposal optimization—driving cost reduction, supplier performance, and operational efficiency through strategic sourcing, category management, and contract governance. Proven track record managing large-scale service contracts ($20M+) across multi-site operations. Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills. Experience with sustainability initiatives, waste diversion programs, and circular economy practices preferred. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities; able to influence across all levels of the organization. Critical Skills And Abilities
