Position Overview The Underwriting Trainer (Non-QM) is responsible for facilitating training for new and existing underwriting staff on topics related to non-Agency and non-QM mortgages. This role collaborates with Underwriting Management and subject matter experts to ensure training materials remain current, relevant, and impactful. The trainer delivers content and creates related training material for new requests based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver training to new hires and existing employees (virtual or in person) on company processes, the LOS system (Encompass), role-based tasks, and investor guides.
Facilitate training sessions according to a schedule provided by Training Management.
Collaborate with leadership to develop Non-QM underwriting materials including instructor guides, job aids, and support materials using various instructional techniques.
Update training materials (manuals, job aids, PPT presentations, etc.) with current guidelines, processes, and procedures as needed.
Provide during- and post-training support to underwriting staff, including answering questions, assisting with computer system/password setup, and completing second-level reviews.
Reflect and evaluate prior training sessions by providing post-training feedback to continuously improve instructional methods.
Collaborate with internal department leaders and subject matter experts to identify business priorities, gather key information, and define learning goals/objectives for the intended audience.
Continuously enhance instructional delivery and presentation skills.
Qualifications And Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Training, Finance, or a related field, preferred.
5+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
3+ years of experience underwriting or training Non-QM products.
Non-QM processing experience, preferred.
Experience in a training or underwriting leadership or management role.
Experience working with Encompass Loan Origination System, preferred.
Proficient in reviewing and analyzing Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LPA).
Skilled in delivering instructor-led training in both live classroom and virtual settings.
Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Highly organized; skilled in creating and managing multiple projects and timelines efficiently.
Skilled in objectively communicating performance outcomes to trainees and managers, and offering improvement suggestions.
Skilled in building and maintaining collaborative relationships across the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Availability to travel to the CCM Corporate Office, as needed.
