Overview
Manager, Cardio/Pulmonary Services, Frazier Rehabilitation Institute. The Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the activities of the Pulmonary Rehab program. The Manager will undertake long-term and short-term planning and supervision of projects that promote and support the vision and goals of Frazier Rehab Institute. Location

Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork philosophy within and between departments. Demonstrates positive problem solving approach in resolving concerns or issues with other departments and/or medical staff; maintains effective working relationships with members of the medical staff and inter/intra-departmental staff as indicated by positive feedback. Manages the operation of the Pulmonary Rehab within the Institute’s strategic plan and mission statement. Participates annually in the long range planning process by contributing goals and objectives based on assessed needs. Defines and periodically reviews the policies, procedures, goals and objectives of the program to evaluate effectiveness, efficiency and progress of the center. Develops and updates program Policies & Procedures Manual in accordance with CARF, Joint Commission, state, federal and other regulatory criteria as needed and annually. Evaluates the annual operations of the program via an annual summary report following an established format. Keeps program personnel informed of changes in policies and procedures; attends meetings to present and learn information pertaining to the Pulmonary Rehab program. Identifies facility needs/requirements for the operations of the Pulmonary Rehab program; participates in educational programs; provides for effective distribution and utilization of personnel based on needs and data. Directs and supervises the operations of the Pulmonary Rehab program to ensure quality services are provided in all areas; develops department schedules to provide high quality services to patients. Proactively manages variable workload and staffing based on an established program plan; provides for shifting of staff priorities and handling increased patient volumes. Provides direct supervision of program personnel and assigns duties to staff to promote smooth operations; ensures staff response to emergencies complies with Institute policies. Ensures compliance with Safety & Infection Control policies; reviews and authorizes purchases of new supplies and equipment as necessary. Maintains operation within fiscal and productivity guidelines; develops annual goals and objectives aligned with the Institute’s mission and strategic goals. Analyzes need and justifies capital equipment purchases; prepares annual department budget in line with Institute procedures and work volumes; maintains operating statistics and inventory levels. Ensures adequate stable supply inventory within budget; understands and communicates Pulmonary Rehab financial issues to staff. Manages personnel to ensure high quality service and staff dignity; complies with HR guidelines for employment and compensation; develops job descriptions and completes appropriate paperwork; completes employee records and actions timely. Teaches, counsels and disciplines staff per Institute policy; establishes standards for job descriptions and performance appraisals; conducts training to keep personnel current with procedures and patient care improvements. Identifies orientation and continuing education needs of staff; provides for new employee orientation with completion of checklists within two months. Participates in mandatory and optional in-house programs; monitors service quality and operational efficiency; identifies and solves problems in patient care and operations; addresses deficiencies per regulatory timeframes. Maintains program quality control in compliance with regulatory and professional standards; participates in hospital-wide QA committee with quarterly reporting; collaborates with other departments and physicians to improve services. Responds to patient satisfaction issues and suggestions in a timely manner; communicates effectively at all levels to minimize inter- and intra-departmental conflicts. Keeps staff informed of developments and changes; coordinates with the Director of Nursing for escalations as needed. Collaborates with scientists within the Institute and at the University of Louisville on research partnerships; maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and contributes to scientific literature and direction of the Institute. Adheres to Code of Conduct standards and professional/ethical guidelines; maintains confidentiality and compliance training; participates in required annual compliance training. Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor degree in Science or related field from an accredited school of higher education. Required Experience:
Two years’ experience in management, preferably in a healthcare environment. Extensive recruiting and retention development activities are desired. Licensure:
Current valid license in the State of Kentucky for Registered Nurse and/or Registered Respiratory Therapist. Skills:
Patient care, assessment and teaching, critical thinking, technical skills related to patient care equipment. CPR/BLS (courses provided by ProCPR or AHA) and ACLS. Cardiac monitoring interpretation preferred. Verbal and written communication skills. Delivers patient care under regulatory guidelines. Equipment:
Blood glucose monitoring machines, portable ventilators, oximeter, cardiac monitors, exercise equipment, oxygen and aerosol delivery equipment, and tracheostomy tubes. Seniority level
