Overview
Stantec is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to support groundwater remediation services in a client-facing role, with initial focus on the heavy industrial and power sector clients in the South and Gulf regions. The position location is flexible throughout Stantec’s Gulf and East Regions, with the possibility for remote work. Your Opportunity

The Senior Hydrogeologist will support local environmental remediation teams and the regional remediation practice, provide project management support, and deliver technical support for groundwater and soil remediation projects across multiple industries in the South and Gulf regions. As a senior consultant, you will leverage technical skills, industry knowledge, and client/partner relationships to support pursuits, win and deliver projects to grow the discipline. Your Key Responsibilities
Contribute to and lead business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients. Assist in analyzing current and emerging technical issues, and implement actions to proactively address market, business, regulatory, and/or economic issues. Develop, maintain, and enhance Stantec’s industry-leading technical approaches to assessment of remedial measures, remedy selection and pilot study implementation. Contribute to the preparation of workplans and project deliverables including sampling and analysis plans, groundwater data interpretation, site assessments, conceptual site models, progress reports, site investigation reports, and remedial action plans as appropriate to document size and complexity. Identify new business opportunities and support the technical components of business development materials. Engage directly with staff on the technical execution of ongoing remediation projects. Grow Stantec’s market position with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider. Lead hydrogeologic technical aspects to approach development and project delivery. Collaborate to build brand recognition for technical expertise, quality, and responsiveness across sectors including federal, state, local, power, municipalities, and other industrial clients. Expand site investigation and remediation practices in collaboration with senior managers in the South region. Engage in groundwater assessment, remedy selection and pilot study activities centric to programs such as Coal Combustion Residual facilities. Design and oversee hydrogeology field programs, including drilling/logging of overburden and bedrock core, soil and bedrock sampling, groundwater sampling, and aquifer testing (e.g., aquifer testing, slug testing, packer testing). Maintain strong business awareness and project management fundamentals: scope, cost, schedule, and quality. Develop professional relationships with stakeholders and decision makers within key Power client accounts. Grow internal and external networks and recruit high-caliber talent across disciplines to join the Stantec team. Provide mentoring and training for staff. Participate in conferences and seminars and represent Stantec in business, community, and social contexts. Demonstrate commitment to Stantec’s code of business conduct and ethics policies. Possess excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations. Work independently without direct supervision. Demonstrate strong time management with an understanding of project roles, scheduling, budgeting, and resource use. Exhibit entrepreneurial mindset and ability to lead others to achieve results. Strong knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, contaminant transport, and metal groundwater remediation practices. Understand state and federal regulations and adapt to client requirements. Interpret groundwater modeling results, engineering drawings, and related work products. Lead multiple projects or tasks concurrently with a clear view of goals, objectives, and costs for clients. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with timely decision-making. Work well in a team and independently with strong interpersonal skills and professionalism. Review and check the work of others for quality and accuracy. Possess a valid professional license (Registered Professional Geologist) in one or more states and the ability to obtain reciprocity elsewhere; preferred but not required. Mentor and/or supervise team members (geologists, engineers, or technicians in training). Proficient in and promotes HSSE policies and procedures. Experience in client-facing engagements. Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required for proposals and projects. Where lawful, may require pre- or post-employment drug testing based on client needs. Possess a valid US driver’s license and good driving record. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Geology or a related geoscience field. Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred. Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience. 40-Hr HAZWOPER training preferred. Experience with heavy industrial, municipal, state, and federal contracts; familiarity with US South regional geology preferred. Typical office environment with computer use and sedentary work; field work may involve exposure to the elements.
