Job Description The Research Nurse Lead provides family centered care, understands, and integrates appropriate growth and development processes into care delivery of patients with acute and chronic diseases, and disorders with a central focus on the safeguarding of research participants.
This position also supports study implementation, study coordination, data management, data integrity/compliance, and reporting of regulatory requirements in various settings.
The Research Nurse Lead identifies resources to advance research nursing practice, utilizes the nursing process, and performs responsibilities aligning with the Magnet® Model.
This position manages, leads, and directs clinical research activities and performs job functions adhering to Lurie Children's service principles with a customer service focus of innovation, service excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients and families.
Essential Job Duties
Manages clinical research activities in accordance to established regulatory and institutional guidelines.
Mentors and trains clinical research staff and act as the primary contact on research matters.
Provides specialized education and oversight concerning research studies and coordinates the conduct of research within the assigned areas.
Lead day to day operations of research study visits for more than one (1) PI or division.
Liaises and communicates with external agencies.
Develops quality control protocols to ensure the safety of all study participants.
Collaborates with the research team to address ethical and financial conflicts of interest and/or issues related to research.
Train, mentor and oversee responsibilities of Research Nurse, Research Professionals, and other research staff.
Provisions IRB document preparation and review.
Multi-center study liaison.
Acts as IND submission/s expert.
Applies clinical judgement in executing research nursing care consistent with Lurie Children’s policies and procedures, IRB approved study protocol needs, and LIP orders.
Develops and oversees implementation strategies, standard operating procedures, recruitment goals, for research protocol.
Serves as expert resource and trainer to multiple clinical and study teams.
Participates and plays a key role in broader research committees and workgroups.
Contributes to systems maintenance and improvement.
Models and encourages professional development and advanced research-focused certifications.
Participates in data analysis as requested.
May assist in development and facilitation of manuscripts, abstracts, and posters for dissemination.
Collaborates to develop innovations in research participant’s care delivery.
Identifies self-learning needs and creates professional development opportunities to ensure professional goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Illinois RN licensure, active and in good standing, BSN required, MSN preferred.
8 years of clinical experience required: 5 years of research experience and previous pediatric experience required.
BLS through AHA required, GCP and CITI certifications strongly preferred.
(ACRP) Certification and/or (SOCRA) certification preferred.
Experience with a fetal center or robust understanding of fetal health care. Experience in, but not limited to, Fetal Cardiology, Neurology, Neonatology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Fetal Surgery required.
Experience in multi-grant writing, and FDA and NIH regulations knowledge/ experience strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of budgeting, monitoring/analyzing variance from budget and hospital information systems such as RedCap.
Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
Ability to work both autonomously and in a team successfully.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work in multiple projects simultaneously and under strict deadlines.
Education Bachelor's Degree: Nursing (Required)
Pay Range $89,440.00-$147,576.00 Salary
