Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr
The SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Microsoft SQL Server databases across production and non-production environments. This role ensures database availability, security, and optimal performance to support mission-critical applications and business operations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with attention to detail and a proactive approach to database management.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances in on-premises and cloud environments.
Monitor database performance, availability, and security using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and related tools.
Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.
Implement and maintain database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions (Always On, mirroring, etc.).
Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures for performance tuning.
Manage database security, including logins, roles, and permissions.
Perform data migration and integration across environments and applications.
Collaborate with development teams to review database design and provide guidance on schema changes.
Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and database architecture.
Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance or releases when required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
3–5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) and T-SQL.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO) using native monitoring tools and DMVs.
Familiarity with backup/recovery tools, database replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory integration.
Understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation.
Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
Experience in an MSP, financial services, or enterprise environment.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server Database certification a plus.
