Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain distributed systems that power Azure AI services in U.S. government clouds.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across multiple services and layers of infrastructure.
Collaborate with partner teams to ensure seamless delivery and integration of AI capabilities.
Support and enhance existing AI services by improving reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure high availability of services.
Contribute to engineering best practices and advocate for operational excellence.
Write clear, maintainable code and documentation to support long-term sustainability of systems.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. These include specialized security screenings such as active TS/SCI (with polygraph) and maintenance of clearance, as applicable.
Clearance Verification: Verification of stated security clearance will be required prior to offer.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship Verification: Citizenship verification may be required due to government agency requirements; passport verification may be used as part of employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of software engineering fundamentals and distributed systems design.
Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure).
Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, TypeScript).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AKS).
Familiarity with observability tools and techniques for diagnosing system behavior.
Passion for building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems.
Communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional teams.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, with base pay in those locations ranging from USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
