Our client is seeking a Multi-faceted Instructor/Technical Writer to join a high performing team. Successful candidates will fulfill customer training requirements for electronic systems, sensors, and radars, and develop engineering documentation for advanced military systems including radars such as TPS/78, TPS/80, F-22, F-35, F-16, and B-1B. Responsibilities
Develops/updates training curriculum in accordance with Instructional Systems Design/Systems Approach to Training and military training standards Develops: Training Program Plan, Job Task Analysis, Curriculum Outline of Instruction, Test Package, Lesson Plans, Trainee Guides, Job Aids Conducts In-Process Reviews Develops Trainee and Training Course Completion Data Becomes proficient with system operation and maintenance tasks Conducts classroom and hands-on training for customer operators and maintainers Travels as necessary (up to 25%) to support and conduct training activities Interfaces with program and customer personnel to accomplish training tasks Supports Integration & Test tasks at the assembly and System level The successful candidate writes, rewrites and/or edits engineering documents such as technical procedure manuals, test requirement documents (TRDs), user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications. They communicate clearly and effectively technical information to a wide range of audiences and possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and organizational skills, and initiative. Additional Responsibilities
Oversees preparation of illustrative materials (drawings, sketches, diagrams, charts) Conducts quality review of materials Publishes materials in various formats (page-based, electronic, structured HTML/XML/SGML) Collaborates with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals Performs Desktop Publishing tasks for program/project reports, whitepapers, articles, and other documents Researches and compiles information from program documents and engineering sources to develop manual outlines and adhere to military/civilian specifications Performs other duties as assigned Skills and Qualifications
Basic Qualifications for an Instructor/Tech Writer: Bachelor’s Degree in STEM or related field Or Military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systems Active DoD Secret clearance required Minimum of 3 years’ experience with maintenance and/or operation of electronic systems, sensors, and radars Minimum of 3 years’ experience in MIL-PRF-29612 Instructional Systems Design/Systems Approach to Training or equivalent Experience as electronic systems, sensors, or radar crew chief or maintenance chief, or operator team leader Growing knowledge with TPS/78 systems, sensors, and radar Experience developing curriculum of instruction (training program plans, job task analysis, etc.) Able and willing to perform physically demanding hands-on training tasks Willing to travel domestically and internationally for training tasks Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work individually or in a team (IPT) Excellent attention to detail Self-starter and engaged team member Preferred Qualifications: Experience as NEC Master Trainer Specialist Experience as a certified Naval Instructor US military training development and instructor experience SCORM courseware development and courseware media development (graphics/audio/HTML5) Completed military curriculum developer courses or equivalent instructor programs Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an instructor of military electronic systems Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
