Overview At TE Connectivity, this Sr Manufacturing Engineer role is part of the Minnesota-Metals Manufacturing Engineering team. The position supports and participates in the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of manufacturing tools and electromechanical systems, including automated components such as collaborative robots, conveyors, vision systems, and programmable controllers. The role focuses on troubleshooting, process control, control systems design, and robotics as part of cost savings and quality improvement efforts for the Plymouth, MN facility.

TE collaborates with leading medical technology companies to design and manufacture advanced devices and manufacturing processes, including laser processing, welding, cutting, and ablation.

Responsibilities

Expert in robotic and automation development.

Support the manufacturing engineering team with a focus on implementation and integration related to robotics and automation for development and production.

Design, create, modify and validate automated equipment integration to meet internal and external customer requirements.

Program PLCs, HMI, Robots, Servomotors and Machine Vision Systems for new machine builds to reduce downtime, improve quality, or reduce manufacturing cycle time.

Ensure control systems comply with TE safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Document schematics of new and modified automated machines built.

Support cross-functional groups in the development and implementation of automated systems in support of manufacturing.

Test automation software function and review for improvements in cost and machine run times.

Create and/or modify existing end-of-tooling and automation equipment.

Implement capital automation projects using industry best practices and business processes.

Support the scope, deliverables, schedule, and project team for capital expenditure (CapEx) of automation projects.

Participate in the development and implementation of new processes and systems; identify and oversee system integrations.

Coordinate/support engineering and automation design, commissioning, qualification, and QA Validation groups as appropriate.

Proactively identify and recommend improvements in site processes and procedures.

Represent the Manufacturing Engineering team as an Automation expert with strong communication and presentation skills.

Provide status reports on automation projects to management as required.

Plan and collect data with teams for problem solving or process improvements.

Develop and document processes, tools, and equipment; assist in standard engineering tests and experiments with attention to detail.

Write and document process instructions; create/improve manufacturing processes and process documentation.

Coordinate with different functional groups as required and train engineers, operators, and manufacturing technicians on new process machine operation.

What Your Background Should Look Like

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or related field; or equivalent technical training plus 5+ years related experience in automation systems.

Strong proficiency in PLC programming, HMI, Robots, Servomotors and Machine Vision Systems.

Robotic programming and 3D CAD experience.

Laser welding/cutting experience preferred.

Ability to work with minimal direct supervision; meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, communicate updates effectively.

Experience communicating with management and providing direction across multiple projects.

Highly organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient with Internet navigation and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat.

Flexibility to work outside core business hours on occasion and on short notice.

Ability to manage multiple fast-moving priorities within a collaborative team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead and influence others toward company objectives.

Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications; strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration.

Demonstrated expertise in quality concepts, practices, and procedures.

Compensation & Benefits Compensation: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. Salary ranges are posted for budgeting purposes and may be adjusted based on location and candidate experience.

Base salary range (illustrative): $102,500 – $153,800

Total compensation includes base salary plus incentives and benefits.

A comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off and voluntary benefits.
