Intertek is actively seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our Electrical Energy team in Cortland, NY. This is a on-site role with travel up to 50% of the time and is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Overview

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to perform testing and evaluation on a variety of products to applicable national, international or industry-specific performance and durability standards, write reports, and communicate with clients. What you’ll do

Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test). Perform certification and testing work including Batteries, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), Combiner Boxes, On Grid & Off-Grid Inverters, DC-DC Converters, PV Modules. Read and understand client-provided or otherwise published performance or product safety standards. Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturing instructions. Validate the project scope and sample applicability. Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing under the project. Follow established test plan; set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed. Conduct construction review, create evaluation reports and test plans, conduct and/or witness testing, resolve technical and/or administrative issues to power electronics standards. Set up and operate standard test equipment as applicable and use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures. Perform testing of products in accordance with standards; core tests may include Battery Cycling, Temperature/Humidity soak or cycle, durability cycling, voltage and current measurement, dielectric, pressure, abnormal and fault condition simulation, rain, dust, and corrosion. Compile test results, data, and product descriptions; prepare final reports using established report shells and submit for reviewer approval. Communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Mentor less senior technical personnel and provide information for quotes (length of project, site needs, rental equipment, samples, standards used). Follow sample handling procedures, log samples in/out, move equipment as needed, and properly package samples for shipment. Provide sales support such as attending client visits and on-going client support as needed. Perform additional duties as required. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with focus on electrical circuits and renewable energy. 5+ years' experience in a directly related field. Experience using Microsoft Office products. Adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure safety of self and others. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines. Detail-oriented with effective time management and workload prioritization. Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Customer-focused and quality-driven. Ability to travel up to 50% as business needs dictate. Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record. Applicants must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the United States; complete an I-9 verification as required. Preferred Requirements & Qualifications

Prior project management experience. Prior direct experience in the renewable energy field. Direct knowledge of US, Canadian and other international product safety standards (e.g., UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 3141, UL 1973, UL 1703, PV Trackers - UL 3703, ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC). Experience with inverter standards such as UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109, etc. Salary & Benefits

The base wage or salary range for this position is $90K - $115K. Individual compensation packages are based on factors including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
