This position will work in Enterprise Risk Management and lead Orion180’s predictive modeling efforts as we expand into new markets and evolve our product offerings. The Senior Predictive Modeling Scientist will design, build, and deploy sophisticated models that inform underwriting, pricing, claims, and portfolio optimization decisions. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for someone who is passionate about leveraging data science to create measurable business impact. Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the following competencies: Predictive Model Development:

Design, implement, and deploy models using statistical and machine learning methods (including time series forecasting) to support underwriting, claims, and pricing strategies. Data Pipeline & Automation:

Develop and maintain reproducible, scalable data pipelines and automate model monitoring and reporting processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, and analytics teams to align models with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Visualization & Communication:

Build dashboards and visualizations that translate complex model outputs into actionable insights for decision-makers. Model Governance:

Ensure proper documentation, version control, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Innovation & Research:

Stay current with industry best practices, new modeling techniques, and emerging technologies to keep Orion180 at the forefront of predictive analytics. Skills and Qualifications

Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or related field. 5+ years of predictive modeling experience, ideally within insurance or financial services. Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps frameworks. Strong understanding of actuarial principles, pricing methodologies, and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. QGIS, GIS-based modeling, or catastrophe modeling experience is a plus.
