Overview
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Navigator to support our CW/TANF team. In this role, you will spend approximately 75% of your time providing housing navigation services and 25% managing a small caseload of CW/TANF participants. This is a hybrid position with the first 60 days fully in the office.
Salary Range:
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
Enjoy JFS's 37.5-hour work week. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
Monitor a caseload of housing-insecure participants to support them in their housing search by maintaining persistent communication and a thorough knowledge and understanding of various housing resources and availability.
Maintain up-to-date information regarding available shelters and short-term housing for participants with emergency housing needs and support clients with the process of obtaining emergency housing.
Maintain up-to-date information regarding waitlists and availability for transitional, low-income, and voucher-based housing programs and assist participants with monitoring their places on housing waiting lists.
Develop and maintain partnerships with landlords who have available properties that accept housing vouchers and/or who are amenable to working with JFS participants.
Collaborate with JFS Community Resources for Stability department to provide up-to-date housing resources.
Work closely with JFS CW/TANF case managers to monitor participant progress toward housing stability and ongoing housing needs.
As necessary, complete intake, conduct a range of assessments with participants to identify and address obstacles to employment, and assist in goal setting and career planning.
Liaison to support service agencies and public organizations to make referrals. Facilitate acquisition of services and resources to meet the needs of the individuals on caseload.
Monitor CW/TANF case plan, enter client enrollment, hours of participation, and employment information into CBMS and JFS database. Maintain case notes, manage case numbers and progress within the program. Ensure quality assurance and file integrity per funder/JFS requirements.
Provide supportive services and assist participants in accessing other community services with a focus on removing barriers to employment and assistance with resources to help gain/maintain employment.
Provide job placement support in collaboration with the JFS Career Services team.
Respond to questions related to unit availability, application process, voucher process, and other processes related to housing.
Create and maintain a comprehensive list of available units in and around Denver, updating daily and organizing it to meet the complex needs of clients.
Explain housing programs, assist participants with housing and rent assistance applications, and provide information about community resources as needed.
Mediates between landlords and clients.
Help clients maintain stable housing, educating them about tenant responsibilities and rights.
Utilize a trauma-informed approach to communicate effectively with clients with multiple housing barriers.
Maximize the JFS CW/TANF team’s ability to help participants find greater housing stability.
Step in to provide CW/TANF case management support when necessary.
Attend relevant community partner meetings and trainings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a similar field is preferred, but not required.
Experience:
3+ years (5 years preferred) hands-on experience in a facilitating role in a multi-cultural environment, serving adults with multiple barriers to housing and employment.
Experience should include needs assessment, mentoring, organization, and oversight of a wide range of support services for individuals with diverse needs and learning styles.
1-2 years working with community service providers. Strong ability to learn, understand, and apply complex CW/TANF county, state, and federal guidelines and policies related to case management, training/education, and allocation of support service employment.
1-2 years working with vulnerable populations and providing housing navigation and/or housing resources for those seeking more stable housing.
Other:
Must possess own transportation, have a good driving record, maintain a valid driver’s license, and provide proof of insurance coverage that meets agency standards. Basic computer skills.
