Senior Group Leader – Environmental Monitoring Microbiologist (2nd Shift)
Location: Rensselaer County, NY
Type: Full-time, second shift (Mon-Fri, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm); candidates must be flexible to schedule changes and occasional overtime.
Overview Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Professional Scientific Services (PSS) is a global life sciences company providing analytical testing services across multiple industries. The Senior Group Leader – Environmental Monitoring Microbiologist leads and supports environmental monitoring activities within a GMP microbiology environment, ensuring quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Execute duties pertinent to the Quality Control Microbiology Analyst position with precision and diligence.
Conduct environmental monitoring and compressed gas collection procedures in controlled environments.
Collect water and clean steam samples from manufacturing systems in accordance with protocols.
Manage laboratory support functions, inventory, supplies, media, and reagents to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Prepare and submit comprehensive laboratory investigation reports per regulatory standards.
Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample and test result tracking.
Adhere to scheduling of tasks on weekly, monthly, and quarterly bases.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and physical stamina to perform tasks involving lifting, walking, standing, and bending as needed.
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
Provide critical support and monitoring of the analytical team’s performance.
Participate in new-hire interviews and oversee onboarding of new employees.
Train staff and perform peer reviews of data to maintain accuracy and integrity.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration; meet overtime and weekend schedule requirements as needed.
Additional Information
Time in cleanrooms with strict non-negotiable restrictions: no cosmetics, trimmed nails, no jewelry (except medical alert items and one smooth ring band), hair secured in a hairnet, and facial hair within a beard cover.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate:
Master’s Degree in Life Sciences or related field, or equivalent experience
Microbiology laboratory experience (5 years)
GMP experience
Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team; adaptable with a positive attitude
Ability to learn new techniques, multitask, maintain accurate records, and follow company policies
Experience with LIMS preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field, or equivalent education/experience (5 years of microbiology laboratory experience)
2 years of leadership experience
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
