Job Title General Radiologic Technologist

Department Radiologic – General X-ray

Reports to X-ray Modality Manager

Status Full Time / Non-Exempt

Radiologic Technologist Position Summary The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring accurate image capture while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and comfort. The technologist also assists with fluoroscopic and special procedures, performs bone density (DEXA) scans as needed, and ensures proper handling of contrast media.

This position requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The technologist must demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A strong focus on safety, quality control, and continuous improvement is essential. Flexibility to work at multiple locations and varied shifts is required.

Radiologic Technologist Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.

Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the requested area.

Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.

Move imaging equipment, determine exposure factors, and adjust controls to produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.

Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.

Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.

Perform bone density procedures (DEXA) when needed.

Assist radiologist in fluoroscopic and special X‑ray examinations.

Measure and mix barium and contrast media.

Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.

Demonstrate a commitment to “World Class Customer Service.”

Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.

Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.

Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.

Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements Education and / or Experience Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, smell and use hands, fingers and arms to handle, feel and reach. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 25 pounds and, on occasion, lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision must include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
