Overview
Fairview is looking for an upbeat and energetic Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department Inpatient Nurse (EDIN RN) role at Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. The hospital is just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN near the 35E and 35W junctions. It has been providing state-of-the-art care and community services to the residents of the Minnesota Valley since 1984. The ED is a Level 3 Trauma Center with 45 beds and a yearly census of approximately 67,000 and growing. The patient population includes newborns through geriatrics, with about 20% pediatric cases. The EDIN role provides med/surg nursing experience within the ED setting and offers opportunities to cross-train into the ED after one year of experience. New grads will be considered for this role. Schedule:
This position works 60 hours every two weeks, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Responsibilities
Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Involves the patient, family, and other health team members in gathering data. Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual, and social aspects) from patient and family. Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems. Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic, and attainable. Validates these with patient, family, and other health team members. Documents data and identified outcomes. Develops an individualized nursing plan of care. Collaborates with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care. Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs. Determines nursing interventions based on identified needs. Identifies interdisciplinary resources needed to assist in implementing the nursing plan of care. Prioritizes interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs. Documents and updates the plan of care to ensure continuity across the continuum of care. Implements nursing interventions based on the plan of care and in accordance with policies, procedures, and nursing practice guidelines. Coordinates nursing care with the care of all other health team members. Initiates age- and culture-appropriate measures to support and meet patient needs while achieving expected outcomes. Initiates patient/family teaching as appropriate to age and readiness to learn. Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently. Delegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel based on needs, condition, risk, complexity, and expected outcomes. Ensures actions are based on scientific, ethical, or evidence-based principles and within legal parameters. Uses a full range of therapeutic modalities to move from least to most intensive as appropriate; documents interventions accordingly. Maintains documentation according to practice guidelines and promotes safety in emergent situations. Qualifications
Required
MN RN License Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher Certification by Emergency Nurses Association (CEN) and/or Advanced Trauma Nursing (CATN) 1 year of emergency department, med/surg, or critical care experience Benefit Overview
