COMPUTER SYSTEMS ANALYST

University of Cincinnati . The Metropolitan Sewer District is seeking a skilled and motivated Computer System Analyst with expertise in Power BI and Project Management Information Systems (PMIS). This key role will have a heavy focus on data visualization, requiring you to design, develop, and publish Power BI dashboards that translate complex PMIS data into actionable insights for our project teams. You will be instrumental in maximizing the PMIS\'s capabilities by developing efficient workflows, automating processes, and ensuring seamless data integration. Ultimately, your work will make a significant impact by improving project management efficiency through technical skills and strategic system optimization, complete with comprehensive user training and documentation. This employee performs a variety of complex technical duties related to the analysis of city, county, and criminal justice agencies\' data processing needs. Employee designs, tests, and implements systems and performs modifications to existing computer applications. Performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities Provide data analysis, design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of information systems. Design, test, and implement systems and modify existing applications. Develop and publish Power BI dashboards; translate complex data into actionable insights for project teams. Develop efficient workflows, automate processes, ensure data integration, and maintain documentation and user training materials. Lead a technical team in developing network infrastructure and ensure IT security considerations are included in all tasks. Design client workflows using multiple software to accomplish a group of tasks; coordinate, prepare, and review requests for proposals as part of design objectives, and develop procedures for backup, restoration, and disaster recovery. Consolidate and integrate workflows across major applications and ensure interoperability of software programs and data sharing.

Knowledge : Data processing applications (e.g., GIS, financial, HR, court management and other MIS); standard programming languages; design, installation, and maintenance of enterprise distributed client/server and desktop systems; computer network systems analysis and design; current trends in data processing; desktop software packages and operating systems; documentation practices; effective customer service; operating system installation and upgrade methods; computer system configurations; operating system structures; network principles and security; testing, troubleshooting, networking hardware; and related topics.
Programming : Computer operating systems/hardware; program design and analysis; programming languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, Visual Basic) and utilities.
Database Administration : Database management systems, design, tools, data/file management, warehousing, recovery, security, and multiple database environments.
Web : Front-end web code (HTML, JavaScript); UI design; information architecture; online interfaces and data presentation; e-commerce management.
Business : Business systems analysis and software packages.
GIS : Desktop GIS software for analysis, query, visualization; web-based GIS interfaces; GIS data concepts and integration with public enterprise systems.
Skills and Abilities : Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain hardware/software; troubleshoot network hardware/software; prepare clear technical reports; develop cost-effective improvements; implement systems per design; plan, analyze, design, program, test, debug, document, and maintain systems; lead technical teams; design client workflows; evaluate contract bids and selections as needed.
Educational/Experience Requirements Required Education and Experience: Three years of experience as a Senior Computer Programmer Analyst with the City of Cincinnati plus a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information technology, computer programming, criminal justice, geography, or a related field; OR five years of experience as a Senior Computer Programmer Analyst with the City of Cincinnati plus an Associate\'s Degree in a related field; OR four years of senior-level paid professional experience in information technology or information systems plus a Bachelor's Degree in GIS, geography, planning, IT, computer science or related field; OR six years of senior-level paid professional experience in IT or information systems plus an Associate\'s Degree in related field.
Other Requirements: A valid Driver\'s License is required for some positions. Some positions may require criminal background checks and fingerprinting. May require irregular hours and on-call availability.
