La Rabida Children's Hospital
The Central Supply Pediatric Technician manages the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory of medical supplies and equipment, with a focus on pediatric inpatient units and outpatient clinics. This role ensures supplies are safe, clinically appropriate, cost-effective, and aligned with the hospital formulary, including providing substitutions when necessary. The technician works closely with nursing, clinical staff, and supply chain leadership to maintain par levels, track expiration dates, and support high-quality patient care. Strong product knowledge and excellent customer service ensure the needs of pediatric care teams are consistently met.
Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and store incoming supplies, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders.
Restock supply rooms, emergency kits, and carts according to established par levels.
Rotate inventory and remove expired, recalled, or damaged items.
Maintain knowledge of pediatric medical products, supplies, and equipment used throughout the hospital.
Ensure supplies distributed are in alignment with the hospital’s formulary and contract agreements.
Recommend and provide clinically appropriate substitutions when a formulary item is unavailable, ensuring staff receive functionally equivalent products.
Serve as a resource to clinical staff regarding the proper use and interchangeability of products.
Monitor supply usage trends and par levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing waste.
Adhere to hospital policies regarding infection control, safety, and handling of sterile and non-sterile supplies.
