Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Software develops the next generation medical technologies that alleviate pain, restore health and extend life for millions of patients across the world. In-person exchanges are valued; the team is on-site 4 days per week to foster growth and cross-functional collaboration. Travel required to collaborate and complete projects is less than 10%. Responsibilities
Lead the design, automation, and support of the observability stack across Elastic Cloud, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and AWS. Set the strategic direction for observability; mentor engineers and drive reliability through actionable insights into systems and applications. Own the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle of the observability platform (Elastic Cloud, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and related tools). Improve logging, monitoring, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and alerting across cloud-native applications. Collaborate with engineering, security, and architecture teams to define SLIs/SLOs and implement observability standards. Evangelize observability initiatives and mentor junior engineers in best practices. Integrate observability tools into CI/CD pipelines to enable proactive detection and incident response. Participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews to drive reliability improvements. Specialized Knowledge Required
Deep expertise in managing Elastic Cloud (Kibana, Beats, Logstash, Index Lifecycle Policies). Hands-on experience with Dynatrace and Prometheus monitoring stacks, including exporter management and custom dashboards. Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, S3, IAM) and streaming frameworks (Kafka, etc.). Ability to optimize cost, performance, and scalability of observability services within AWS. Proven leadership and mentorship experience; ability to lead cross-functional projects and develop junior team members. Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation and integration. Define and enforce data retention, access control, and multi-tenant observability strategies for Elastic and Prometheus. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Qualifications – External

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, PLEASE BE SURE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience in SRE, observability, platform engineering, or related technical disciplines. Master’s degree with a minimum of 0 years of technical experience. Nice to Have
Experience with OpenTelemetry or other open standards for observability. Familiarity with cost optimization strategies in observability tooling. Exposure to compliance frameworks (HIPAA, ISO 27001) in observability contexts. About Medtronic
