The Opportunity Join Multnomah County as our next Senior IT Data Modeler (LDA). What You'll Be Doing Leading the Data Charge: architect and manage data modeling projects that build integrated solutions for Multnomah County, collaborating with various departments and outside agencies. Crafting Data Blueprints: oversee the full lifecycle of data models, from planning and defining requirements to designing, developing, and maintaining both logical and physical data models for decision support and transaction processing systems. Setting the Standard: lead the development of metadata standards, ensure accuracy and consistency, and align with business analysts and application developers. Optimizing Performance: design, develop, tune performance, and maintain complex data and analytic systems. Collaborating and Mentoring: partner with stakeholders to understand data needs, develop solutions, and train others on data models. Ensuring Data Integrity: work with network administrators to ensure confidentiality, security, scalability, and recoverability of data and databases; establish and enforce technical and procedural standards. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience (4 years) of qualifying training/experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience demonstrating ability to perform the duties of this position (Total Equivalency 7 years of qualifying training/experience). Ability to pass a criminal records check. Knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs): Advanced knowledge of or skill in Azure Cloud (Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Azure Boards). Working knowledge of or skill with Snowflake. Advanced knowledge of BI data marts and data warehousing, including design and best practices. Experience building ETLs with developers for reporting. Knowledge of database logging tools (e.g., Idera, RedGate Monitor, Splunk). Experience with BI reporting platforms (Tableau, Power BI, SSRS). Advanced knowledge in installing, tuning, maintaining, securing, and administering MS SQL Server in on-prem and cloud environments. Working knowledge of SSIS environments. Working knowledge of security, authorization, and authentication in Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Entra ID. Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and Azure cloud backup and recovery design/implementation. Basic networking, Windows Server administration, SAN/NAS storage, and virtualization concepts (Hyper-V/VMware). Advanced knowledge of RDBMS management tools (e.g., SSMS). Proficiency in T-SQL development, including stored procedures, queries, functions, views, indexes, and triggers. Experience with database modeling, data conversion, and ETL tools such as SSIS. Basic administrative scripting (C#, WMI, PowerShell). Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills You do not need these to qualify, but they may be considered.
