Responsibilities
The Direct Access Coordinator is responsible for screening patients to determine eligibility for direct scheduling of GI Procedures. This individual reviews patient information to ensure appropriate clinical criteria are met for procedural scheduling and coordinates care efficiently between patients, referring providers, and the gastroenterologist. It is the goal of this position to provide an exceptional patient and family experience as it relates to the direct access program. The responsibilities begin with the notification of a patient’s referral to the Direct Access Program, followed by triaging for procedure eligibility, scheduling appointments/procedures, providing preop, prep, procedure instructions and maintaining ongoing communication with the patient and referring providers to ensure continuity of care. This position will have an analysis component where growth opportunity, barriers to care and patient compliance rates are collected and communicated to practice and clinical leadership. A systematic review of the program will be conducted monthly. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience Must possess a high school diploma or GED Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university Must have experience with Medical terminology Must have at least 2 years in a medical practice or outpatient surgery center EPIC experience preferred
