Overview The Financial Reporting Analyst will be assigned to the Corporate Finance department and will be responsible for financial, planning and analysis and/or accounting responsibilities. The position performs higher level financial analysis, builds models, schedules and templates to inform operational, financial, and strategic decisions, and prepares information for management and leadership across the Enterprise. The responsibilities will be dependent on the specific tasks assigned to the individual.

Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements (including footnotes) for subsidiaries of Horizon Mutual Holdings, Inc., ensuring GAAP/SAP compliance and regulatory requirements of the SEC, NAIC, DOBI and BCBSA. Includes drafting the Management’s Discussion and Analysis for filings.

Apply new technical accounting guidance to the work area.

Analyze and report monthly and quarterly financials; support general ledger closing activities; prepare financial reporting (e.g., board reports, divisional reports, scorecards, regulatory reports).

Prepare month-end reconciliations and analyses for areas of expertise.

Coordinate audits with external auditors and provide necessary documentation and guidance.

Prepare and review ad hoc analyses and benchmarking for assigned divisions or companies, including data extraction, reporting, graphs and presentations.

Conduct financial and operational analyses to support decision making (e.g., Healthcare Receivables, statutory/regulatory disclosures at consolidated and standalone levels, delegated vendors).

Manage company-wide asset accounting and amortization processes to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Lead monthly Capital Committee meetings, ensure correct accounting treatment for project proposals; document decisions and minutes.

Deliver accurate variance reports; analyze data, explain variances, and support interpretation of financial results.

Maintain effective internal controls over processes and transactions; ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations.

Identify core finance processes for standardization/redesign and implement streamlined controls.

Resolve issues within a controlled environment; engage stakeholders as needed.

Provide consultation and support to divisions on financial matters; develop cross-functional relationships and proactively solve problems to deliver results.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma/GED required.

Master’s degree in business administration, accounting or finance is a plus.

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience within Finance (accounting, financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, etc.), preferably in the health insurance industry.

Experience with a large corporation (revenue > $500M) is preferred.

Licensing, Certifications

CPA or other healthcare-specific financial certifications preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of accounting, finance and budgeting; familiarity with GAAP and SAP preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Analytical thinking, problem solving, and ability to research and resolve issues; ability to present findings clearly.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce detailed financial reporting.

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work; work independently with sound business judgment.

Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel); familiarity with general ledger systems and financial auditing preferred.

Experience with advanced Excel (including macros/VBA) is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to completion; adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical skills, business acumen and communication abilities.

Additional Information Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware

Salary Range $86,000 - $117,390

This range reflects job level and factors such as education, experience, licensure, location, and internal equity. Horizon provides a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including retirement plans, PTO, incentive plans, wellness programs, and tuition reimbursement.
