Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Hybrid) Base pay

Job Responsibilities
Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services for adults, adolescents, and children in coordination with Serene’s outpatient counseling services. Work at one or more office sites in the San Diego area with a hybrid model of in-person and tele-health sessions. Perform outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management at Serene Health IPA Medical Group locations (San Diego, CA). Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other members of the treatment team to coordinate client care. Complete medical records, treatment plans, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries in a timely and accurate manner. Counsel clients during appointments as necessary and develop individualized treatment plans incorporating best practices. Order or examine laboratory or diagnostic tests as needed to inform general physical condition and mental health status. Coordinate with guardians, relatives, and significant others when clinically appropriate. Submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to funding sources, insurers, and other entities as required. Conduct initial patient assessments, including medical history and psychiatric evaluation; administer EEG as part of assessments where applicable. Develop individualized treatment protocols based on EEG brain mapping and clinical presentation. Administer and monitor Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment sessions safely. Track patient progress and adjust treatment protocols as needed. Maintain compliance with medical, ethical, and legal standards. Respond to calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours or sooner if clinically necessary) and be accessible for emergencies. Make independent clinical decisions based on national guidelines and established protocols. Maintain positive working relationships with all agency staff and clients. Ensure accurate documentation for billing in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and payor rules; submit billing documents in a timely fashion. Identify opportunities to improve and promote quality of care. Follow all procedures and policies per Serene Health IPA Medical Corp policy and applicable regulations. Participate in ongoing agency and department education, trainings, and updates to clinical policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Education And Experience
Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health. At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to individuals with psychiatric disorders. Ability to work with both adult and youth/child populations. Preferred Experience
3+ years of experience as a psychiatric provider. Experience in telemedicine. Licenses/Certifications
Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a PMHNP. Unrestricted APRN license in California. Valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in California. California state CSR (Controlled Substances Registration). Registration with the California Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). No suspension/exclusion/debarment from federal health care programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP). Maintain credentials with major insurances and licensing boards with the assistance of Provident credentialing staff. Required Skills/Abilities
Experience delivering high-quality, client-centered care. Ability to document and navigate an EHR independently. Maintain strict client confidentiality. Effective communication with individuals across program components (children, parents, school staff, funders, partner agencies, Provident team members). Represent Provident with courtesy, tact, discretion in all interactions. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team. Strong reading, writing, and presentation skills for routine reports and communications. Ability to make independent decisions when warranted and to foster teamwork; train and guide team members. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work productively and autonomously. Working Conditions / Environment
Office-based environment with accessibility for clinical consultation. Direct client services hours required; remaining hours for documentation, meetings, trainings, and supervision. Typically low noise level; ability to talk, hear, and interact effectively; standing, walking, and sitting as part of duties. Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching as needed.
