Contract Negotiator Associate

AdventHealth . Location: Maitland, FL. Shift: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm Hybrid (Onsite Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). This position is responsible for negotiation support with top-tier and mid-level payer contracts as well as direct and indirect negotiation, review, and completion of assigned low-level payer contracts. Duties include supporting strategic managed care contracting initiatives as directed by AdventHealth leadership; contract review, interpretation and analysis, negotiation, reporting, and implementation for assigned low-level tier payer contracts; and assisting in issue resolution across multiple entities including hospitals and/or physician practices in Florida as well as ancillary service providers owned, employed, or operated by AdventHealth. Facilitates compliance of contract terms for assigned payers by leading in strong working relationships with department staff, various hospital and provider staff, and leadership at all AdventHealth Florida regions, ancillaries, and external managed care payers. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and serves as a primary liaison for maintained relationships that are equally respectful of all. Diligently supports the business relationship and advances AdventHealth strategic and tactical objectives with each assigned payer.

Responsibilities

The Value You Will Bring To The Team

— Negotiation: represent AdventHealth as lead negotiator for assigned low-level tier managed care health plans; contribute to contract negotiations through research and planning; seek resolution to managed care issues by interpreting contract performance information; develop proficiency in contract provisions; apply negotiation services by contributing to meetings and projects; support timely start of negotiation activities by coordinating information and making recommendations.

Systems: coordinate with Managed Care teams and outside units to identify contract implementation elements; perform research using applicable reports to assist in negotiation and issue resolution; coordinate with multiple internal and external teams to ensure contracting information is current.

Regional Representation: contribute to strategy development and implementation as a managed care liaison; identify and resolve contract performance issues; promote strong relationships between health plans and AdventHealth providers; evaluate new managed care opportunities to respond to market changes.

Deadlines and Timeliness: complete tasks timely per leadership expectations; contribute to group goals; assist coworkers and adapt to changing priorities.

Communication: effectively communicate with coworkers, leadership, health plans, and provider staff; participate in meetings; provide timely updates; collaborate with contract administration teams; ensure PHI and proprietary information are handled securely.

Support: assist in contract negotiations and managed care projects; adapt to changing needs; support financial and operational issue resolution related to accounts receivable, utilization management, quality assurance, billing, pre-access, care management, and related tasks.

Performance Standards: adhere to internal policies and applicable laws; contribute to developing information and documents to enhance performance in Managed Care.

Development, Education and Training: participate in managed care training; pursue opportunities to grow contracting and healthcare skills; assist in developing educational materials to improve performance; participate in industry advocacy groups as applicable.

Qualifications

Associate degree or three years related experience

3 years work experience

Strong organizational skills

Self-motivated with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Professional attitude and conduct

Typing: 35 wpm

Word processing, spreadsheet, and database proficiency

Proficiency with email, calendar, and web-based meetings

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, finance, communication, or related field

Understanding of a large integrated healthcare system

Understanding key elements of a contract and negotiation practices

Ability to develop, implement, and execute research plans
