The Bilingual Foster Care Specialist is a critical member of the region’s child welfare team, working collaboratively within and across programs to keep children safe and support families in line with our Blueprint of Impact, which emphasizes child, family, and community well-being solutions. You will gain experience collaborating with families who have an indicated report of abuse or neglect to work toward a safe reunification or an alternative permanency plan, ensuring the well-being of every child. Your daily routine will involve comprehensive, trauma-informed case management services to a reduced caseload of families involved in the child welfare system and providing supplemental services to families assigned to Advanced and Lead Specialists. Case management includes assessing safety and needs, engaging biological families to strengthen parenting skills, supporting foster families, establishing collaborative relationships with service providers, monitoring progress toward reunification goals, and providing testimony in Juvenile Court regarding the best interests of children and families. With support from your supervisor and the Lead Specialist, you will be supported in developing competencies to promote into an Advanced Specialist within 6–12 months of hire. Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed case management to a reduced caseload of families involved in the child welfare system. Assess safety and needs of children and families; engage and support biological families to improve parenting skills. Support foster families to ensure the needs of foster children are met; establish collaborative relationships with service providers and institutions. Monitor progress toward family reunification goals and provide testimony in Juvenile Court regarding best interests of children and families. Collaborate across programs to deliver comprehensive, strengths-based services and contribute to the agency’s Blueprint of Impact. Work toward professional growth with opportunities to advance to an Advanced Specialist within 6–12 months. Candidate Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related field required. CWEL, CERAP, and CANS certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Ability to speak English and Spanish required. Experience providing collaborative, strength-based services to kids and families preferred. Ability to attend in-person meetings and events as needed. Valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required. Job Details
Compensation: $57,416 annually for qualified English/Spanish bilingual candidates. The salary range represents the current posting as of now and is subject to change; final salary will be based on experience, education, qualifications, skills, and alignment with organizational needs. Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 payable in two installments: $1,000 within the first two pay periods and $1,000 after 3 months of consecutive employment. Internal candidates are not eligible for the sign-on bonus. Stay Bonus: $3,000 CWEL Stay Bonus payable in two installments: $1,500 after 6 months and $1,500 after 12 months of consecutive employment. Eligibility requires the role to require CWEL certification. Promotion: Eligibility for promotion into an Advanced Specialist role within 6–12 months of hire with a salary increase. Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance; 3+ weeks of PTO in the first year (including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day; PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays; supplemental insurance options; 401(k) with match. Location: Hybrid (remote/in-office); majority of work will be in the Chicagoland area performing home visits to foster homes or meeting clients in an agency office or community setting, with some documentation and coordination possible from your preferred location. Schedule: Full-time, salaried; general business hours with flexibility for client schedules and special projects. On-call responsibilities on a shared rotation.
