Director of Nursing with Horizons Care Center. Horizons Care Center is part of Volunteers of America National Services, the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization, and proudly listed among the Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report. Pay: $112k - $128k annually, based on experience. We are offering a generous sign on bonus of $15,000 (paid in eight equal increments issued every ninety days until paid in full). Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, budgeting, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained in accordance with the Budget and Operation Plans of the organization. Ensure that an adequate level of services is provided to each resident, documented appropriately and regularly evaluated. Ensure utilization of Volunteers of America National Services core clinical systems. Essential Functions
Administer Personnel Functions Directs and delegates the management functions of licensed and ancillary personnel; coordinates activities of nursing units; interview hires; counsel/discipline; conduct performance evaluations; determine staffing; develop and maintain schedules; plan orientation and training; supervise departmental meetings and records; review overtime and department expenditures; revise job descriptions; attend meetings; instruct staff on regulations and policies; participate in ongoing educational programs; supervise comprehensive personnel administration activities. Department Budgeting and Planning Participate in operating and capital budget preparation for the Nursing Department; work with leadership to set department goals and monitor progress; report monthly to Executive Director; supervise equipment purchases/repairs and monitor expenditures; ensure vendor compliance. Policy Functions Understand and comply with corporate policies; participate in in-services; collaborate on Policy and Procedures with Medical Director. Department Inventory Control Maintain inventory control, order supplies/equipment, inspect deliveries and invoices for accuracy; conduct department inspections. Department Inspections Lead quality and regulatory inspections; implement deficiency corrections; cooperate with external inspections. Infection Control and Safety Manage infection control and safety programs; act as Director of Infection Prevention; monitor sanitation and safety; ensure compliance with laws and prevent disease transmission; coordinate antibiotic stewardship with program elements. Fire and Disaster Plans Understand and follow fire and disaster plans; participate in drills. Delivery of Nursing Services Organize and administer nursing services and related ancillary services; develop and implement nursing service objectives and standards; monitor quality measures and patient care; conduct resident rounds; collaborate with physicians and consultants; participate in care planning; support Admissions Committee; serve as a resource on nursing practice. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently registered with the State Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses in the state where the facility is located. Minimum of three (3) years administrative and supervisory experience in a long term health care setting; knowledge of transitional care and rehabilitation nursing or related experience. Effective verbal and written communication with staff, residents, families and regulatory agencies; ability to document appropriately. Numerical ability for budgeting, scheduling and inventory control. Ability to apply principles of personnel administration to interviewing, selection and supervision of staff. Able to evaluate reports, programs and data against criteria; flexible to work hours as needed. Proficiency with computers and electronic devices for timekeeping, training and documentation. Benefits
