Cole-Frieman & Mallon LLP
Overview
Cole-Frieman & Mallon LLP is a prestigious boutique law firm based in San Francisco with a robust national practice, representing hedge fund managers, venture fund managers, and other asset managers. Our firm has the largest hedge fund practice in California and launches around 300 funds each year. Our team is growing, and we are seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Junior Paralegal to join our firm. The successful candidate will be within driving distance of our Oakland (Rockridge) office. CFM does not mandate working in the office every day. Our group is small, so you should prefer to work as part of a small, busy team and take charge of core responsibilities with minimal direction. The job will require you to balance client-related work alongside some day-to-day administrative tasks. The successful candidate will be proactive, resourceful, and able to deliver high-quality professional client service.
Base pay range
$50,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Form legal entities. Prepare securities and regulatory filings. Track, calendar, and maintain deadline-driven documents. Assist associate attorneys and partners with client communication. Occasional overtime may be required.
Qualifications
Associate's Degree. Paralegal Certificate preferred (willing to train to acquire certification). Strong ability to work diplomatically with different communication styles, personalities, and varying levels of accountability. Acute attention to detail, outstanding writing, research, negotiating, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments with a high degree of accuracy and meet deadlines in a high‑pressure environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to oversee challenging matters and changes in workflow. Creativity and Innovation. Strong familiarity with basic Microsoft Office programs. Ability to meet deadlines and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Prior law firm experience is desirable but not required.
Benefits
Competitive salaries, 401k, 401k match, profit sharing, paid time off, paid holidays, paid CLEs, and a benefits package, including medical, vision, and dental plans. Paid CLE, paid maternity/paternity leave, and contribute up to 12 months of childcare upon returning from leave.
