JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals. Key Role Responsibilities - Core
SUPERINTENDENT FAMILY - CORE These responsibilities apply to the Superintendent role and its core functions. Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through actions and mentoring others. Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow. Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project. Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work. Coordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site. Leads meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings. Attends, manages and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings. Creates, manages, changes and implements the project schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager. May be responsible for tracking and monitoring project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports and data from the project manager. Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments. Follows the project filing and documentation system; updates drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks. Records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports, logs and tracking reports. Evaluates progress on self-perform work and makes adjustments as needed. Manages material and equipment needs for the project. Supports the MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes. Assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform operations. Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes. Ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and outside resources. Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect and authorities. Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology. Participates with field operations leadership to create and execute a project pre-plan and monitors it throughout the project lifecycle. Partners with field leadership to establish field staffing for their project. Partners with project management to identify schedule and costs for project changes. Participates in negotiations with owner and architect to reach agreement on project changes. Participates in project review meetings, including monthly reviews and other key project meetings. Participates in project buyout meetings with subcontractors and vendors. Understands and applies owner and subcontractor contract terms and conditions. Responsible for identifying and recruiting top talent. Leads and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion; adheres to JE Dunn’s non-discrimination policy. Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core Superintendent 2 In addition, this position will be responsible for the following: Manages fairly complex stand-alone projects from start to finish. Assumes responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on their project or portion of it. Identifies, understands and actively manages project risks. Uses experience to identify problems and recommends solutions for the team. Manages deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics. Participates in project pursuits and negotiations for changes with owner/architect. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work accurately, completely and on time. Verbal and written communication skills (Intermediate). Ability to conduct effective presentations (Intermediate). Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate). Ability to apply construction management methods to projects. Knowledge of project processes and how each supports successful completion. Ability to build relationships within the team and with external partners. Proficiency in project management and accounting software (Intermediate). Proficiency in JE Dunn construction technology (Intermediate). Proficiency in scheduling software (Intermediate). Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy (Intermediate). Knowledge of trades and scopes of work (Intermediate). Knowledge of self-perform and labor productivity (Intermediate). Ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability and develop future work through relationships (Intermediate). Knowledge of organizational structure and resources. Knowledge of layout and crane flagging/rigging (Intermediate). Ability to understand document changes and impact on project schedule. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Education
High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred). Experience
5+ years construction experience. 3+ years field supervision experience. Experience with Lean principles (Preferred). Working Environment
