Overview
The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Inequality/Stratification to begin autumn semester 2026. We seek candidates who will contribute to the Department of Sociology’s strengths in social stratification and interdisciplinary growth, teaching core courses in stratification and inequality, and engaging in cross-disciplinary research. Responsibilities
Maintain a robust research program with active pursuit of external funding Teach undergraduate and graduate courses with excellence Mentor a diverse body of graduate and undergraduate students Provide engaged service to the department, university, and the profession Contribute to departmental goals and operations through committee work or administrative roles Performance Objectives
Develop and maintain a productive research agenda Excel at teaching courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship Support departmental goals and operations through service Education And Experience Requirements
Required:
PhD in sociology or a related field by the start of employment; demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching Desired:
