Good physical health Meet Mississippi State Law Certification and State Law Enforcement Criteria Good organizational and communication skills (oral and written) Such other qualifications as may be set by the administration Typical Duties And Responsibilities
Subject to call at all times in case of special needs or emergency Reports for duty physically fit, mentally alert, neatly and properly groomed, with the prescribed uniform and equipment Acquires and records information concerning events that have taken place since their last briefing Records activity during their tour of duty in prescribed manner Uses the vehicle assigned to them in the most safe and economical manner Devotes the maximum possible time to performance of their basic duties, remaining in the police station only when necessary Completes and submits reports of crime, motor vehicle accidents, and other incidents in conformity with established procedures Enforces traffic laws and ordinances and seeks to eliminate conditions interfering with the safe and expeditious movement of vehicles and pedestrians Ensures civil treatment and the protection of the rights of all persons within the scope of their authority Completes the 40-hour MDE school Resource Officer training Completes assigned duties of school safety planning, enforcement activities, classroom instruction in areas of expertise and counseling referral of students Checks affidavits of students living within the district and living outside the district Performs background checks of all intended employees Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan Performs other duties as assigned Term of Employment
