Overview
This position is responsible for identifying and implementing sourcing strategies and projects across the Meats & Prepared Foods North America business. This person leads and supports initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership while deepening supplier relationships and improving the overall effectiveness of the JBTM Supply Chain. Responsibilities
Collaborate with Central Procurement team, Site Purchasing, Product Management, Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to develop a project funnel and annual material savings plan. Owns the execution, performance measurement, and status communication of this plan utilizing JBT Marel’s Strategic Sourcing Process, and Central Procurement Trackers. Review sourcing requests arising from the business for their respective spend categories, addressing needs for issue escalation, incumbent terms negotiation, finding alternative sources, and resolving disputes. Engage existing and potential vendor partners with regular business reviews and site visits. Perform risk assessments of these companies and develop intelligence regarding their operations, markets, and competition. Identify and implement cost saving opportunities using Best Cost Countries (BCC), First Article introduction, Tariff Codes, QBRs, Logistics setup and launch. Negotiate landed cost (freight & tariffs) and Free Trade Zone (FTZ) warehousing options in US soil. Identify and consolidate vendors within JBT Marel Meats & Prepared Foods and lead towards partnerships with vendors to create a robust Supply Chain within assigned commodities. Performs other duties as assigned. Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related degree) CPM/CSCP/CPIM certification preferred Documented negotiation training preferred Experience / Skills
5-10 years of Supply Chain/Strategic Sourcing in a manufacturing environment. Experience in identifying, qualifying, and leading sourcing projects to successful completion Emotionally Intelligent - exhibits empathy and ownership; is a high performing communicator, team builder, and influencer Working knowledge of Make versus Buy models and experience deploying such projects Long-term supply agreement negotiations Spend and savings analysis utilizing ERP, data warehouse, and spreadsheet tools Peer and leadership presentation skills Exposure to LEAN/Continuous Improvement principles and tools (Kaizen, A3, Gemba) Scope of Responsibility / Accountability
Accountable for meeting project timelines, year over year savings targets, and supplier performance objectives Takes initiative and acts independently within approved frameworks Seeks support and guidance when needed; asks for and receives coaching on development goals and needs Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct reports Sets expectations for project teams, uses process rigor, influence and leadership support to execute Financial Responsibility
Deliberates company funds based on individual judgement and spend authorization policy Responsible for savings dollars budgeted in annual plan Manages up to $40M in direct material spend across assigned categories Work Environment and Physical Demands
