Produce and maintain the department’s technical and financial performance. Direct adjustments of the manufacturing process to meet standards, specifications, and customer requirements. Maintain all GMP and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with workplace and government standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc.). Produce reports on volume, yields, quality, productivity, and efficiency. Collaborate with Production planners to plan weekly schedules. Build weekly employee schedules, manage vacations for hourly and supervisory staff, and coordinate staffing needs. Participate in budget and capital expenditure processes and provide data as needed. Control the department supply budget and may collaborate with outside vendors. Attend weekly staff meetings and lead weekly maintenance/production meetings. Work with other department managers to ensure total plant success. Education and Experience
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience: 5 years of related experience. Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry or a science-related field preferred. Five-plus years of supervisory experience preferred. 2+ years of experience in cheese production and/or the food industry; experience in food production, packaging, warehouse, or distribution preferred. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
OSHA, Food Safety, FDA, and USDA knowledge. Knowledge of ISO and certifications within the food industry. Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel). Skills and Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to manage people effectively.
