The

Mechanical Test Engineer

interacts closely with the Driveline (Axle, Transmission, and Friction Lubricants) and Industrial (Industrial gears and Hydraulics) Business groups and is accountable for delivering quality test results and engineering solutions effectively and efficiently. You will understand product approval, differentiation, and testing needs (lab and field) and ensure that Mechanical Testing activities and resources are deployed to support the needs of the business. This includes providing engineering support to the lab operating team, coordinating work from internal and external service groups, new test development, interpretation of test results, and technical presentations to global OEMs, partners, customers and internal colleagues. Develop in-depth knowledge of related Friction and Gear Testing methods for lubricant product development and product differentiation. Develop in-depth knowledge of relevant application hardware. Develop in-depth understanding of relevant OEM and Industry specifications and trends that will lead to new lab test and field-testing development. Apply engineering skills and knowledge in the development of new tests and test procedures, provide engineering solutions, and deliver quality test results in a timely manner. Conduct data analysis and provide clear, concise, and timely reports. Interact with Business technical and commercial teams to develop testing strategies which best support business growth objectives. Ensure that projects are aligned with business goals and there are agreed-upon milestones, dates, and accountability. Provide regular updates to business groups on technical and project achievements as well as hurdles and issues. Review project performance at milestones and ensure accountability to deliver agreed upon results. Partner with laboratory operations, data acquisition and control, and other resources to coordinate these resources for optimum test performance and timely execution. Collaborate across technology groups to ensure process consistency and resource sharing; drive continuous improvement in the test area. Track and understand Division and MT Department goals and metrics and contribute to meeting these goals proactively. Skills That Make a Difference

BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. 3 or more years of engineering experience, including relevant co-op experience. General knowledge of Automotive Drivetrain systems and the OEMs that build these systems. General knowledge of Industrial Gear and Hydraulics applications. Effective written and oral communication with colleagues and internal/external customers. Ability to respond and adapt to new demands, priorities and obstacles. Ability to navigate and influence in an inter-disciplinary matrixed organization. Ability to adapt to and script in different Data Acquisition, reporting, and programming languages. Ability to travel occasionally domestically and infrequently internationally. Ability to use appropriate PPE to fulfill safety requirements. Perks and Rewards
