Targeting $58–$75/hr Company Overview Our client is a global leader in smart building technologies, delivering integrated solutions that enhance energy efficiency, safety, and operational performance. Their platform is transforming how buildings are managed through intelligent, connected systems. Position Overview This role supports a high-profile smart building implementation project in Manhattan. The Building Systems Engineer will serve as the onsite technical resource, working primarily from a computer terminal to configure, monitor, and report on building systems. The role involves deep interaction with VMS platforms, lighting controls, and legacy protocols, and coordination with remote and offshore teams. Must-Have Requirements
3+ years of experience in building systems engineering, building automation, or HVAC controls Strong understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS); experience with VMS platforms (Schneider VMS preferred) Familiarity with legacy building protocols such as BACnet and Modbus Experience working in agile environments and coordinating with distributed teams Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, implementation-focused setting HVAC or mechanical systems background preferred Willingness to learn and train on new platforms Comfortable interfacing directly with customers and stakeholders Nice-to-Have Requirements
Experience with smart building technologies or large-scale commercial building projects Exposure to IoT protocols and cloud-based building platforms Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Act as the onsite technical lead for building systems integration and reporting Work from a terminal to configure VMS systems and lighting controls Pull and analyze system data for reporting and troubleshooting Coordinate with remote and offshore teams to meet implementation milestones Support agile project execution through documentation and issue resolution Maintain records of system configurations and changes Provide feedback to improve system performance and reliability Seniority level
