Overview Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Lead supporting TOS II, at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, TN. The ID&C Engineer will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations efforts at AEDC.

$88,000 - $155,000 / year

Job Summary The ID&C Engineering Lead will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the U.S. Air Force Test Operations efforts at AEDC. This position requires occasional scheduled extended hours and/or weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support in emergency situations.

Job Duties

Research and understand a wide variety of highly complex customer requirements and develop successful solutions.

Support tasks/projects as an individual contributor as assigned by the Group Manager.

Manage group assignments for other software engineering and computer system administration personnel, track task progress and help eliminate roadblocks.

Lead planning and execution activities (estimates, hazards analysis, support SOC development, plan for future issues/foresee problems and resolve) for assigned facility(ies).

Support strategic objectives by working with Sr. Staff, Group Manager, and branch leadership.

Serve as a mentor and provide technical guidance in troubleshooting and causal analysis for engineering problems in execution of work in complex test operations; engage with Senior Staff personnel on technical issues and encourage engagement of engineering staff with SMEs.

Support/Plan day-to-day operations and activities for individual contributors to test and/or maintenance projects.

Monitor individual assignments and performance (technical, schedule, and cost) on specific tasks, monitor job hours expended for project/task(s), and report status as required.

Allocate software engineers, computer system administrators, and data center operators to test planning, test operations, system maintenance, and system engineering tasks as required to meet test mission requirements.

Track employee progress toward established goals and provide constructive input to annual performance reviews for members of the group.

Support development (including ensuring mentors are assigned/paired) for the team, ensure they are provided with the necessary tools and training to fulfill their responsibilities.

Serve on technical committees as applicable or assigned.

Audit/test progress to ensure safety standards and best practices (guides, procedures and work instructions) are followed.

Interface with test customers (Air Force, civilians and consultants), and other BNH managers and engineers to ensure group objectives are being met.

Identify areas in the group where additional support may be required.

Support periodic internal status briefings to management and aid in financial planning with periodic labor forecasts for projects.

Ensure work instructions and configuration management for assigned systems are maintained current.

Perform basic personnel administration duties (i.e., timecard approvals, input to performance appraisals, etc.) as requested by Group Manager.

Exemplify the company core values and covenant of safety in all aspects of the job, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.

Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree focusing on Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.

Skilled at building and maintaining personnel relationships.

Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems.

Current U. S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Active DoD secret or higher-level security clearance

Mathematical or computer expertise or a combination of the same. Knowledge and experience in scientific software development, sustainment, and/or maintenance of software and/or computer system administration.

Knowledge and demonstrated practice of related safety measures and setting a good example for others with respect to safety

Extensive prior ID&C system development and/or operations experience

Prior experience managing a test, capital improvement, maintenance, training, or overhead project, or a portion of a project budget.

Master’s degree in a related technical or management field.

Skilled at written and oral communication.

Demonstrated ability to mentor less experienced technical staff.

Familiarity with AEDC Test Facilities, Processes, and Personnel is desirable.
