Location: Valley Green, PA. Department: Engineering. Wage: Depends on Experience. Position: Product Engineer. Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market. Our products enable the electronics revolution and are a key enabler for major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our team in Valley Green, PA is seeking a Product Engineer who will be the technical expert for one or more connector product lines, responsible for planning and managing complex technical projects. Responsibilities

Maintain product quality and reliability to ensure mechanical integrity and perform failure analysis on defects from customer applications and certain manufacturing processes. Integrate new technologies, innovative manufacturing methods, and critical cost initiatives into process/product designs supporting new product releases. Manage product-related documentation and specifications at the component level, the manufacturing processes, and field application performance by maintaining all aspects of the product design integrity. Serve as the customer focal point in support of technical product information, in-field applications and guidance related to product performance. Work closely with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, and interfacing with beta-site customers. Responsible for the successful transition of products and processes from NPI phase to volume manufacturing, including interfacing with NPI and manufacturing engineering groups at connector facilities globally. Provide technical assistance to drafters, designers, engineers and other support personnel to help them perform their duties. Support the product design effort in a mechanical capacity by developing/participating in tolerance analysis, FEA, material evaluation, and failure analysis activities. Participate in identifying new/alternate materials and benchmarking, and in developing innovative manufacturing techniques supporting product lines. Collaborate with product designers in design reviews, component and product testing and qualification, and introduction of new products including derivatives to meet market demands; participate in quality investigations to assure product specifications. Participate in fixture design and in creating and managing test plans supporting the NPI process. Identify and drive project initiatives such as cost improvement, overall quality initiatives, and product performance benchmarking. Qualifications

BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with solid modeling tools (Pro/E); FEA tools is a plus. Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people. Ability to work in a dynamic team environment. Desire to create and design new products and processes. Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics is a plus. Basic understanding of electrical connectors.
