Overview
This role is for an Assembler at S&C Electric Company. You will support the assembly function, performing essential mechanical and electrical assembly tasks to produce S&C products and help transform the grid for resilient and reliable power worldwide. This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth within a long-standing, employee-owned company committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Base pay range
$20.00/hr - $20.00/hr What You’ll Do
Perform basic electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including fitting panels and devices according to schematics and assembly instructions. Mount components and route/secure cables using torque tools and lifting devices. Inspect components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring according to quality standards. Read and understand blueprints/schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and quality concerns. Adhere to safety protocols while handling tools and materials; report safety hazards promptly. Complete in-house training to learn basic blueprints and BOMs. Use an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to move and position materials. Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist. Meet department targets and maintain quality and safety standards; use lifting and ergonomic devices as required. Understand and comply with applicable Company policies and rules. Work with mentors to gain and apply feedback for improved work quality; seek clarification when instructions are not understood. Maintain regular and punctual attendance and participate in meetings as requested. Communicate effectively and respectfully with team members and others. Other responsibilities as assigned. Hours
4:30 pm - 1:00 am (Monday–Friday) Overtime is mandatory What You’ll Need To Succeed
High School Diploma/GED 0-1 year of experience in mechanical or electrical assembly (including personal or hobby experience). Willingness to learn assembly processes and use hand/power tools. Ability to work in a fast-paced assembly line with tasks completing before the line progresses every 15 minutes. Proficient at precise, delicate tasks with hands; ability to manipulate small objects and operate tools. Attention to detail with accurate part quantities. Good written and verbal communication skills to interact with teammates in production support departments. Basic computer skills and ability to review/respond to internal requests. Basic math skills for measurements and weights. Good interpersonal and organizational skills to understand and complete requests from team members inside and outside the department. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices (e.g., alignment gauges). Willingness to perform physical work in a manufacturing environment. Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures and report concerns promptly. Preferred
Ability to read blueprints. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles. Physical Demands
