Summary Drive the production plan from demand through delivery. In this role, you will build and maintain the master production schedule, release and sequence shop orders in the ERP/MRP, and coordinate closely with materials, engineering, quality, and operations to keep work flowing. You will continuously read the shop floor—WIP, capacity, constraints—and proactively re-balance when priorities shift (expedites, downtime, rework, shortages). Success is measured by schedule adherence, on-time delivery, inventory health, and throughput.

Responsibilities

Own the Master Production Schedule based on confirmed orders, forecast, and inventory targets.

Translate the MPS into detailed shop orders and routings; sequence work centers within the ERP/MRP.

Partner with Purchasing/Materials to ensure raw materials, components, and tooling arrive to plan.

Track WIP and downstream operations; surface and resolve capacity and constraint issues early.

Re-plan tactically to address machine downtime, urgent customer needs, quality rework, or shortages.

Coordinate with Engineering/Tooling/Quality on changeovers, revisions, NCRs, and rework dispositions.

Publish clear, timely schedule updates to production, customer service, and sales stakeholders.

Report planning KPIs: OTD, schedule adherence, throughput, yield, backlog, and inventory turns.

Identify waste and bottlenecks; lead or participate in CI, Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma activities.

Support S&OP, weekly production reviews, capacity/demand planning, and related cross-functional forums.

Maintain accurate planning data, routers, and change logs to keep documentation current.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.

5+ years in production planning/scheduling within a manufacturing environment.

Hands-on ERP/MRP expertise (Epicor or similar) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, modeling, scenarios).

Demonstrated analytical judgment, prioritization, and decision-making under time pressure.

Strong organization and communication skills; effective partner across shop floor and office functions.

Familiarity with Lean/continuous improvement and quality systems; Six Sigma exposure is a plus.

Background in metalworking, casting, machining, or other high-precision production strongly preferred.

Exposure to regulated/certified environments (AS9100, ISO 9001) and to demand-forecasting tools is a plus.

Ability to work on-site with occasional extended or weekend hours when needed.
