About the Role:
Our client is hiring a Metering Field Engineer to support operations in New York. This hybrid role blends engineering, fieldwork, and client-facing coordination. You’ll work hands-on with metering hardware, analyze energy data, and collaborate across departments to ensure systems are deployed, functioning, and optimized. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and support metering technologies (electric, water, thermal, gas) in the field.
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and ensure equipment is production-ready.
Provide technical training to Field Technicians, Project Managers, Logistics Coordinators, and external partners.
Develop and maintain training documentation and technical support materials.
Analyze energy consumption data across building portfolios to identify patterns and develop allocation strategies.
Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to guide sub-metering system design.
Create schematic diagrams in AutoCAD LT for new construction and retrofit projects.
Maintain cross-reference documentation for building meter systems.
Collect meter data manually when automated systems fail or upon request.
Produce engineering reports outlining challenges and proposing solutions.
Provide technical expertise on AMR (Automated Meter Reading) and communication equipment.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
Support sales and customer care: order tracking, fulfillment, and client communications.
Deliver remote and on-site technical support for installations and troubleshooting.
Assist with hardware design packages and installation documentation.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with internal teams including billing, field services, and engineering.
Required Qualifications
College degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field).
2–5 years of experience in field technology, hardware, or energy systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., electricity distribution, DHW/DCW, HVAC systems).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and AutoCAD LT.
Experience with data aggregation and analysis (Excel proficiency required).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accountability.
Preferred Skills
Passion for client engagement and relationship-building.
Aptitude for math and working with numbers.
Familiarity with utility billing and rate structures (electric, gas, water).
