Summary Ensures the efficient clinical operations of the assigned OB/GYN Imaging areas (Fetal Diagnostic Center, Gyn Ultrasound, Reproductive Endocrinology Imaging) in collaboration with OB/GYN Administration, nursing at each site, and ambulatory network. Maintains accountability for ongoing operations, including fiscal management of staff FTEs and operational expenses. Develops and maintains systems to ensure the ease of scheduling of patients and efficient use of resources, both human and material. Serves as the key liaison to physicians in areas assigned. Supervises training for staff members, residents, MFM fellows, and sonography students. Maintains a good working relationship with several sonography schools. Recruits and mentors staff as appropriate. Maintains and improves QA systems. Maintains and revises protocols. Develops educational materials for sonographer training. Monitors changes in coding and implements appropriate actions. Keeps current with technological advances within assigned area. Collaborates with Information Services and Clinical Engineering in maintaining clinical systems and equipment. Assesses opportunities for improvement of ultrasound services and implements ideas in a collaborative fashion. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health or another related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
Graduate of an accredited Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Sonography program OR graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved School of Radiologic Technology with an advanced certification in Sonography.
Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN).
Professional obstetric sonography experience.
1 year of supervisory experience.
Experience with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) recertification.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Proficiency with technology and software relative to the department, including Microsoft Excel.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Preferred:
Five years of experience in obstetrics and gynecologic sonography; knowledge of physics.
Physical Demands
May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to read job-related documents.
Ability to use a computer.
