Overview

Residential Youth Counselor, Crisis Response role at Northern Rivers Family of Services. On-site on the Albany campus; reports to the Residential Supervisor. The role provides daily therapeutic care and programming according to agency policy and governing bodies' requirements (DSS, OMH, JCAHO, etc.). Responsibilities

Provide for the physical and psychological needs of clients, including physical safety, hygiene, clothing, food, cooking, medical care, and a reliable and nurturing environment. 1:1 Residential Counselor: follow an individual youth’s 1:1 expectations plan, ICMP, safety plans, and transport 1:1 clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs. Engage the youth in activities and conversations that are age appropriate and developmentally appropriate; document a summary of each shift. Learn the history and specific issues of the youth requiring 1:1 care and learn how to safely manage crises; seek and obtain training in area-specific needs. Work within a trauma-informed framework, maintain consistent routines, and manage personal responses to youth. Engage and form positive relationships with all youth served; complete all mandatory trainings; maintain documentation to meet programmatic and regulatory standards. Transport clients for medical, mental health, and other essential needs as required. Facilitate groups and visits, coordinate activities, and participate in program-wide committees as applicable. Additional Roles

Lead or take on specific leadership responsibilities for dorm/cottage operations and demonstrate ability to take a lead role in a team. Form positive relationships with more challenging youth and families; model positive communication with internal and external stakeholders. Lead, delegate, and plan work for other team members when appropriate. Requirements And Education

HS Diploma/GED required. Experience working with emotionally disturbed population. A valid, clean driver’s license required. Must pass physical; must be able to complete TCI training. Experience Levels (RC1–RC3)

RC1: Experience with emotionally disturbed population preferred; at least six months related experience with competency in Level 1 essential duties. One year preferred. RC2: At least one year of related experience required with demonstrated competency in Level 2 essential job duties. Two years or more preferred. RC3: At least one year of related experience required with demonstrated competency in Level 2 essential job responsibilities. Two years or more preferred. Benefits
